Paul Scheer [00:00:00] In 2020, Girls Rule: American Pie 9 was released on home video. And in that movie there is more heart, humanity, and normal behavior that is identified as human than in whatever the fuck we just watched. We saw A Beautiful Wedding. So you know what that means.
Music [00:00:28] [Intro Song]
Paul Scheer [00:01:29] Hello people of Earth, and hello people of Los Angeles! We are live at Largo, continuing our exploration into the two worst characters in cinema’s history. I don’t even remember their names. I think it’s Abby and Jake, but if not, it doesn’t make a difference. Him and her will do just fine. Movie came out in 2024. What is it? Well, it’s a sequel to a movie that we did, which I like to call a rom com Fight Club. Now, at the end of that movie, there were these fun slides like the end of The Hangover that apparently were shot at the wrap party for that movie, and that’s the basis of the sequel. The movie starts with those slides and goes, what if? And here’s the kicker, both of these movies based on a book by a really racist writer, so we won’t get into that, we’ll enjoy this because she’s not involved in those movies at all. All you have to know is our two main characters. They fall in love. They get into multiple MMA fights, there’s gambling, there’s mafia, and then they somehow go to Mexico. They’re married. And this all happens in three months. And the girl’s 19. Okay, so that’s. That’s that. I would say that the first act ends at minute 45, and it’s an hour and 25 minute long movie. I won’t talk more about it than that. We’ll get into all of it. But first let me introduce my co-host, Mr. Jason Mantzoukas.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:03:15] What’s up, jerks!? Come on, Largo. Night two. Netflix is a Joke.
Paul Scheer [00:03:23] Netflix is a joke festival. And you know what? Netflix is a joke festival said, can you do movies that are on Netflix? And we said no.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:03:38] We said we personally would rather pay for these movies. Sometimes multiple times.
Paul Scheer [00:03:47] We want our audience to be frustrated, just like us. We will not make it easy.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:03:54] Correct me if I’m wrong, Paul. We’ve seen this movie before?
Paul Scheer [00:03:59] No, we watched the first.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:04:00] Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Paul Scheer [00:04:01] A Beautiful Disaster.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:04:02] Yeah. I kind of remember it. Luckily, this movie has a full blown recap of that movie in the first five minutes.
Paul Scheer [00:04:12] Thank God.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:04:13] I don’t remember, did that movie had cartoon graphics on the screen?
Paul Scheer [00:04:17] No. That’s new.

Paul Scheer [00:04:21] Part two really pulls out all the stops. It’s Roger rabbit meets, Fritz the Cat, which is an old reference, but I’m going to stand by it.

June Diane Raphael [00:05:28] I know the first thing. One of the first things I wrote down was, have we made any progress as a culture? And it wasn’t even, like progress since the first movie. I mean, like, have we made any progress, you guys? Any?
Jason Mantzoukas [00:05:45] My question is, are these movies each an announcement of the impending apocalypse? Is how many in this series? This is two. How many are there?
Paul Scheer [00:05:56] Well, this just came out.

Paul Scheer [00:06:23] Here’s what I’ll tell you about this. And just to kind of put it in simple specifics, the way that Twilight spun off 50 Shades of Gray, there is another series of YA novels that are very successful. This is kind of the dirty alt version of them.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:06:41] The books aren’t dirty you mean?
Paul Scheer [00:06:42] The books are dirty.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:06:43] They are.
Paul Scheer [00:06:43] Yes. So this is like, this is the fan. What’s the books it’s based on?

Jason Mantzoukas [00:07:12] Much like everybody else to prep for this. Everybody watched.
Paul Scheer [00:07:15] So I did go over some of these details in that one.
Audience Member [00:07:18] You did. And what it actually is is that Dylan Sprouse is in another series of YA movies called The After series.
Paul Scheer [00:07:26] Yes. And this is a parody of the after series.
Audience Member [00:07:29] Those are based on Harry styles fanfiction.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:07:33] Oh, wait, that’s then. Is that the new that’s the new Anne Hathaway movie?
Audience Member [00:07:39] No.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:07:40] That’s that’s a different Harry styles fanfiction? That has spawned a successful film franchise? I have an answer for you now, June, we have not moved forward as a culture and in fact, we are moving backwards. Put us in a grave. It’s over. I listened to the trees from The Happening and will be killing myself tonight. Goodbye.
Paul Scheer [00:08:06] Just for brevity sake, the idea is that.
June Diane Raphael [00:08:10] First of all, the fact that there’s any source material here is so absurd.
Paul Scheer [00:08:15] I’ve been sitting on what I really want to say, which is this is based on a novella.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:08:19] So that’s what this is. So this is based on a short book?
Paul Scheer [00:08:24] Yes. The first movie based on a full book. This is based on a novella. And then, this novella, they really just didn’t use at all.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:08:34] So the third movie will be based on, like, a magazine article. And the fourth movie based on a tweet.
Paul Scheer [00:08:42] Now, now I will say this a couple more details that are equally confounding about this. So, they did put the author of the novellas name in the credits. She says, I am not involved in this, and she has tried to get her name out of the credits.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:08:59] What?
Paul Scheer [00:09:00] Unsuccessfully. So, they have said we’ve done this with the author’s input. She says no. So it’s apparently a 24 page novella.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:09:15] Oh, wait a minute, 24 page is not a novella. It’s a short story. I’m so sorry. What I can write that I can write the next one of these by the Monday.
June Diane Raphael [00:09:31] It’s a chapter.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:09:32] No, we got the. The three of us have to write the next movie. I don’t want them to hear. I don’t want them to steal the movie. We can do it.
Paul Scheer [00:09:43] They wrote another. Well, the author did continue to write this series but spun it off. The spinoff series is about Travis’s brothers, so.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:09:55] I was so flummoxed when those guys showed up. I was like, who the fuck are these idiots? Like who who shook loose a bag of potatoes into this movie?
June Diane Raphael [00:10:08] I couldn’t pick one out from the other.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:10:11] Couldn’t make heads or tails out of them. One of them keeps looking into camera. I’m like, has this motherfucker never been on the set before?
Paul Scheer [00:10:20] Wait a second. Are you telling me that the scene, the hottest scene in cinema since Top Gun’s volleyball scene, the shirtless spike ball scene?
Jason Mantzoukas [00:10:31] Please play it.
Paul Scheer [00:10:32] I wish I had.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:10:34] That scene. I only wish they had put Playing with the Boys in the soundtrack, because
Paul Scheer [00:10:39] They can’t afford that.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:10:41] They did the high fives. They did all the tropes of that, of Top Gun.
Paul Scheer [00:10:45] And here, here’s the thing. I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum. I’m not here to make fun of anyone’s looks, but those guys are decidedly good looking. They’re not jaw dropping. Like the beach stops at these dudes and their tight packages. Like, I don’t know what’s going on.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:11:05] Well, you know, they’re all Maddox’s, so they’ve all got that big hog. They’re all packing that mad dicks.
Paul Scheer [00:11:13] The way that they the way that they show one of those brother’s dick bulge I was like, it doesn’t look sexy to me. It looks like something’s wrong. Looks like there is.
June Diane Raphael [00:11:25] I wrote down at one point, I was say, I hate women, I hate men. Sex is gross. I hate it all.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:11:34] Yeah, I hate that I wrote that, too. And then I said, the only thing I’m attracted to is the cartoon characters.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:11:41] Oh my gosh.
June Diane Raphael [00:11:42] The cartoons are gross. The narrator’s voice was gross.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:11:46] Who was the narrator? Real question.
June Diane Raphael [00:11:48] I think the narrator, I think was the, like concierge. I think it was Sancho.
Paul Scheer [00:11:55] I thought the narrator was the priest that was in training.
June Diane Raphael [00:12:00] No, that’s not Miguel.
Paul Scheer [00:12:02] No, no, the priest training the priest in training.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:12:04] Oh, I see.
Paul Scheer [00:12:05] Like so he’s like Miguel’s like father. I know I’ve been training to be a priest, but holy shit, let me tell you this story. And then the priest is like, you’ll never guess what my priest in training told me. And then he’s telling the Pope.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:12:19] You’re telling me the Pope is a character in this movie?
Paul Scheer [00:12:22] This movie is a story that we tell the Pope. Oh, because he’s like, it’s so crazy, Pope.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:12:28] Next movie, Beautiful Vatican.
Paul Scheer [00:12:30] Well, then they send Russell Crowe from the Pope’s Exorcist to then to then dispose of Travis and Abby.
June Diane Raphael [00:12:40] All of this backstory and these crossovers and whatever’s happening with these characters, like none of it amounts to anything like this. This doesn’t deserve any backstory or other movies.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:12:53] What about when Abby says to Miguel, what’s your backstory?
Paul Scheer [00:12:56] When she said that, I threw my pencil across the room. I had to pick it up. But I still was just. I wanted the anger of that moment. But what’s your backstory?
June Diane Raphael [00:13:09] But his answer is devastating and insane.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:13:13] Make no mistake, the most interesting character in the movie, Miguel.
June Diane Raphael [00:13:17] For sure. And at one point I was like, if if we cut to this house one morning and there’s like 15 dead bodies and they’ve been slaughtered like it’s Miguel because he grew up there, he witnessed violence like something’s going to turn and he’s going to become so disgusted with the behavior that’s going on in his childhood home. And the disrespect. Yeah, that Miguel is going to flip out. And I wish I saw that movie.
Paul Scheer [00:13:44] Let’s go from the top. Obviously, this movie starts off in the montage, the slideshow montage that we see at the end of the first film where these characters are having a crazy night in Vegas. We start off the movie right where it left off. Only three days, I think pass.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:14:03] Six days.
Paul Scheer [00:14:04] Okay, so yeah, it’s very close. But enough time for them to make an Apple slideshow of all the photos from last night.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:14:13] Oh, sorry. That you mean in Vegas?
Paul Scheer [00:14:16] Oh, yeah. In Vegas.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:14:16] Oh, in Vegas. I mean, nothing has happened like no time since that is the last movie.
June Diane Raphael [00:14:22] Well, yes, but we pick up, we pick up there in the beginning of this movie. So just to talk about that slideshow for a second. So they had to, in their drunken stupor, make a slideshow. Do you think they’re just gonna.
Paul Scheer [00:14:34] “Wait wait wait. Hold on. Let me pull up. Yeah, that’s a good transition.”
June Diane Raphael [00:14:37] Do you think they’re just airplaying it to the TV? Like someone had to figure out settings.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:14:42] Oh, yeah. What wi-Fi Wi-Fi network.
Paul Scheer [00:14:45] Someone’s in iPhoto. Like I said.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:14:47] They had to do the thing where they’re like, oh, the code. You have to get the code.
Paul Scheer [00:14:53] Google Chromecast? How can I do my slideshow?
June Diane Raphael [00:14:57] Most hotels won’t let you do it.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:15:00] And thank God all the pictures just happened to be from the night before.
Paul Scheer [00:15:05] And in chronological order. And then we get the craziest reveal, which is Abby has been straight up branded like a Nexium victim, with her her new husband’s name in her inner like area right there.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:15:25] Inner area?
June Diane Raphael [00:15:27] Yeah, the inner area.
Paul Scheer [00:15:28] Her cum gutters.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:15:29] I like that way to put it less. I think that makes it grosser. Her inner area? It’s not insid her labia. It’s on her hipbone.
Paul Scheer [00:15:42] I know that they call it cum gutters on men. I didn’t know what they call it for women. So here.
June Diane Raphael [00:15:50] Oh my God.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:04] So I think they’re called cum gutters on men, but I think it’s just squirt drainage on women.
Paul Scheer [00:16:11] So she’s branded. She’s married. They also conveniently give them, like a $189,000. Like. What a great plot device. Oh, and you got a shitload of money, too.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:24] And they stole the money from the last movie. I do remember that. But then I had forgotten entirely that she is a child gambling prodigy.
Paul Scheer [00:16:36] Yep.
June Diane Raphael [00:16:37] And that’s why. And he’s a fight.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:39] He is a fight clubber.
June Diane Raphael [00:16:41] He. And that’s why, in some ways.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:44] I wish he was Tyler Durden. I wish he was imaginary.
June Diane Raphael [00:16:47] Listen, in some ways, though, this movie made so much more sense to me than the last one. I was like.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:54] Wow, I feel the opposite.
June Diane Raphael [00:16:55] Really.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:16:57] What was the plot of this? The last one, I get it.
June Diane Raphael [00:16:59] No, you don’t get it. No no, no, you think you got it. But when if you remember back to the time when we watched it, we had to find out that she was like a child prodigy. We found that out 50 minutes into the movie. I think it was insane. And her father, there was no record of her dad. And then he was caught. It was absolutely bananas.
Paul Scheer [00:17:19] She is very like, demure in the first movie and then opens up in this movie. She’s full on insane, like she’s fighting children.
June Diane Raphael [00:17:30] I love that scene.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:17:31] Oh, my God, that. Oh, the whole sequence with Thumbelina.
June Diane Raphael [00:17:38] I thought it was great. Perfect. I was like, this.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:17:41] Insanity.
June Diane Raphael [00:17:42] Wonderful.
Paul Scheer [00:17:43] She’s like, I will fight this child because I won’t hurt her as bad as another person might.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:17:50] Her thinking is, who would hurt. Somebody is going to hurt this little girl. I’ll go in there, but I just need a costume. Cut to sexy cat costume.
Paul Scheer [00:17:58] By the way, I do want to just talk about the worst costume in the entire movie. Which is, again, back to the opening scene.
June Diane Raphael [00:18:06] Oh.
Paul Scheer [00:18:07] She. Within the first two minutes, Abby pukes on Travis, vomits on him. He does not change out of that shirt or that outfit. No, I would say it seems for hours.
June Diane Raphael [00:18:22] Because Paul, he’s wearing that. So I was tracking there that same exact thing, and she wakes up in a thick black tee and it’s thick and it’s cheap.
Paul Scheer [00:18:33] And I got big and it’s.
June Diane Raphael [00:18:37] Yes. And she’s wearing that. She’s wearing that all the way to when she’s on the bed with him. And he’s wearing the same clothes in Mexico. They are so disgusting. Yeah. They’re so disgusting. Take a shower.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:18:53] They’re 19, who cares?
Paul Scheer [00:18:54] There. There’s also. I’ve never, ever seen a movie with such an egregious edit in my life where it’s like, oh, they think they’re being killed. The I guess we don’t know, beat the shit out of a bellhop. Like, fully.
June Diane Raphael [00:19:14] They waterboard him, they waterboard him.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:19:17] They murder that man.
June Diane Raphael [00:19:19] I think so.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:19:19] But of course every hotel in Vegas has a giant pitcher of water. Just an open pitcher of water.
June Diane Raphael [00:19:32] Wait what? What I couldn’t understand is what was. I know they thought it was a gun, but what was he bringing in?
Paul Scheer [00:19:39] Dryer. Like a hair dryer.
June Diane Raphael [00:19:41] Where was the cord?
June Diane Raphael [00:19:44] It was a cordless hairdryer? I didn’t know we had the technology. I was like, what is that thing?
Jason Mantzoukas [00:19:50] Well, it’s future tech. This takes place in the future.
Paul Scheer [00:19:53] What movie? What also what kind of character also enters by putting a hair dryer through. That’s how I’m entering. The hair dryer. But here’s the thing. That guy comes in, they think it’s a gun. They cover him up, they beat the living fuck out of him, and then they don’t reveal it.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:14] Nope.
Paul Scheer [00:20:15] They don’t show you any of the funniness of, oh, I’m so sorry. Oh, God.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:18] You never get to see that he’s okay.
June Diane Raphael [00:20:20] No, he’s not.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:21] They’re just like, here we are at the helicopter.
Paul Scheer [00:20:24] What? What? When they go to the helicopter, I rewound it. What did I miss? Did I have a stroke?
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:29] Not even like a nice helicopter. Like, do you want to fly in a helicopter from the scene? Like. Like a helicopter from the scenes in Magnum PI where he’s flashing back to Vietnam.
Paul Scheer [00:20:38] But I’m also like, at one point they go, Michael can’t come with us. I’m like, who the fuck is Michael? I didn’t even know there was a Michael here.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:45] And then also, how do you not bring, what was his name? Buzz?
Paul Scheer [00:20:50] Buzz. Yes.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:51] How do you not bring buzz back? One of the most charismatic people in the movie.
June Diane Raphael [00:20:54] I don’t remember Buzz. Buzz is in the other movie?
Jason Mantzoukas [00:20:56] Pilot of the helicopter.
Paul Scheer [00:20:57] For 10K he’ll take you anywhere. He’ll take you to Mexico without your passport. Cool.
June Diane Raphael [00:21:02] Okay. He was amazing. He was amazing. And Kyle Richards was as well.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:21:08] What? I was flummoxed by her arrival. Only because I was. I was wondering, is she playing herself.
June Diane Raphael [00:21:18] Well, here’s what’s so interesting. I want to know when this movie came out, because for those who are know.
Paul Scheer [00:21:23] 2024
June Diane Raphael [00:21:25] I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it.
Paul Scheer [00:21:25] Only a few months old. January 2024.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:21:29] But is it currently 2027?
June Diane Raphael [00:21:32] Just is not. The numbers aren’t lining up. But but it was so wild to watch her deliver some of those monologues about marriage, knowing what we know now, of course, about her.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:21:42] What do we know now?
June Diane Raphael [00:21:44] So Kyle has has had this long relationship with a man named Mauricio who who, by the way, sells a lot of real estate in Mexico. So I did have the thought, like, maybe she was just there and they hired her like a local hire. But they’ve had this marriage, like, they’ve just really presented themselves as, like, absolutely in love for years. For like 30 years. Okay. And the marriage has fallen apart this year.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:22:14] Got it.
June Diane Raphael [00:22:15] And it’s.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:22:16] So is that why? Is she. Because I feel like, is she being down on guys in this movie? Or is she being like?
June Diane Raphael [00:22:23] Well, that’s interesting too, because she has a joke about them being lesbians. And she did have a very sort of will they won’t they sort of a lot of lesbian rumors about her and this singer, Morgan, what’s her name? Morgan Wade.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:22:42] You guys know that. But you don’t know anything else? Okay.
June Diane Raphael [00:22:46] That piece of it was so crazy. It was a it was a wild scene to watch because it just felt like we were watching Kyle talk about Mauricio and Morgan.
Paul Scheer [00:22:57] And then. But then little did we know that she plays a very pivotal role because it’s the mother of the guy that Abby was supposed to be with.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:23:08] What are the odds?
June Diane Raphael [00:23:10] Did you mind that he had a British accent and she didn’t?
Paul Scheer [00:23:16] Honestly, I didn’t hear a goddamn word.
June Diane Raphael [00:23:20] I thought Parker had a British accent in this movie.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:23:21] Parker doesn’t have a British accent. I don’t think so. Does he?

But all of them suck. So I went to discord and said, I love my discord. This is written by Claire Meachum. “What an honor to witness this. God bless America five stars.”

Paul Scheer [00:57:01] Yeah. God bless America, the character. Sarah Killer writes “Less Dylan Sprouse ass, but he did say Oooga want to fuck, so it balances out. Five stars.” And then my favorite one of them all by Ian Bruce. “You couldn’t make a movie like this in 2024.”

Jason Mantzoukas [00:57:32] Oh. That’s amazing. Ugh, they wouldn’t let you make a classic like this in 24. The woke police wouldn’t let you make this classic.
Paul Scheer [00:57:46] There are a couple of things that are interesting that I wanted to share with you. We talked about the mud scene. And every time you hear the cast talk about this movie, they seem angry.
June Diane Raphael [00:58:00] Again, just one blooper.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:58:01] Also, how often do you hear this cast talk about the movie? Every time you hear the movie, the cast talk about this movie. How much are you tuning into that?
Paul Scheer [00:58:11] Well, I started to go down a rabbit hole. I was like, oh, let me see, you know, I’ll watch a couple of their interviews. Garner called the mud Scene the most challenging to film. “That was two days in real mud, not fake mud. There were rocks.”
Jason Mantzoukas [00:58:26] Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. Let’s unpack that just briefly. What’s fake mud?
Paul Scheer [00:58:33] I guess, like where they would just. Yeah. Make it. Well, you’ll see why she goes. Not fake mud. There were rocks in it and mosquitoes were super drawn to it. And they were laying eggs in it, and it was pretty nasty. And I’m grateful that Rob Estes was in there with me. He’s a great sport, but that was a tough scene for me. Then they cut a lot of it. So that always adds insult to injury. When you spend a lot of time on something and it ends up on the cutting room floor.
June Diane Raphael [00:59:11] I feel for this woman. I feel for this woman.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:59:15] How long is this movie?
Paul Scheer [00:59:17] An hour and, like, 35 minutes.
June Diane Raphael [00:59:19] Four hours and 25 minutes.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:59:20] Because I only wonder. Because here is a. I have a theory as to why there is a single blooper. You have to you. Your movie has to be a certain number of minutes long in order to qualify as a feature length movie. So a lot of times the reason there are bloopers or bits at the end of a movie are because the edit has come in too short to cater to, to fall into that category.
Paul Scheer [00:59:47] Normally under an hour 30. This is an hour 40.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:59:49] It is. Okay, so that’s what I was wondering. I was like, oh, did they just need that one?
June Diane Raphael [00:59:53] Jason, it’s not why.
Jason Mantzoukas [00:59:56] No, I’m trying to help the movie out. I don’t know why. I don’t know why. I think I love the Beautiful series. I think these movies are my movies.
Paul Scheer [01:00:08] Virginia’s real life husband is in the movie. She got married right before she started shooting the movie, as did Dylan. They both are were newly married. They went to go shoot this movie and her husband is in it. She said he’s outside the lucha libre tent.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:00:21] In an English accent? As if he’s at a rent fair in Mexico.
June Diane Raphael [01:00:25] Yeah, I knew it.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:00:27] Couldn’t figure that out.
Paul Scheer [01:00:29] “I had to grab him by the nose and take him out of the frame. My husband and I had a lot of fun with that little cameo. It was his first time acting, so he was nervous. He was rehearsing that stupid song he sings in the movie. Sang it all day and night.” Everything just ends.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:00:45] That’s infuriating, because that’s a perfect example of a thing in the movie. That makes no sense because they’re at a the festival where the where she dresses as the cat. It’s a luchador wrestling match. They’re eating the hot peppers. It’s like a it’s a whole festival. And then she comes across a man who’s acting like he’s at a Ren fair. Yeah, like, hello, milady. And I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what’s this now? How is this part of, like, the Lucha Door Festival that he’s doing medieval stuff? He calls her a wench, and she gets mad at him. Was that it?
June Diane Raphael [01:01:23] Because now I’m wondering, like, does he. He’s not an actor. So was that part in the script or was he just like, I want to be in the movie. This is something I can do.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:01:33] Yeah. Or she was like, babe, you should do your Ren Faire thing.
June Diane Raphael [01:01:36] Exactly. That bit we do that makes me laugh.
Paul Scheer [01:01:40] Now, Jason June, would you recommend this movie?
Jason Mantzoukas [01:01:44] Yes, 100%. Yes. Forever and ever. I love it, I think. Yeah. Okay. We’re back.
June Diane Raphael [01:01:53] No, it. No. No, no, it really, it depressed me. It made me sad. It made me sad for young women. It made me feel like, oh, there’s so much work to do, you know. And will we ever get there? And why are we going backwards? It it made me very depressed.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:02:13] Yeah I agree it was. It’s.
Paul Scheer [01:02:20] To me I loved it, I hated it. And I’m in this zone where I could watch it for the rest of my life and still get something out of it, and also hate every minute of my waking life. I don’t know, it’s like a it’s like a lifetime movie where they are allowed to go hard R. And that’s what I kind of love about it.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:02:42] Yes. That’s what I like, what I like. Yes, it was more successful in the first one. Yeah, in the first one, because the plot a little bit was.
June Diane Raphael [01:02:53] The plot was insane.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:02:53] Crazy. It at least was an archetype I understood. You know what I mean? They’re in college. He’s the bad boy. She’s. The plot is nuts. But I at least understood the architecture. I understood the arch.
Paul Scheer [01:03:09] This is, you know, neither a wedding movie nor a bachelor party movie. It’s, like a chase movie. It’s a movie about the.
Jason Mantzoukas [01:03:20] They go to jail. It’s like all this stuff from the first movie. She never gambles. He barely fights all that stuff out the window. All of the elements of the first one, it’s it’s almost as if they’re starting from scratch and they’re like, we’ll find it on the day.
June Diane Raphael [01:03:37] Should we go back to where the source materials from?
Jason Mantzoukas [01:03:39] Yeah.
