The Deep Dive
June 1, 2021
Astrologer Extraordinaire and dear friend Heidi Rose Robbins joins the girls to talk about her journey to spirituality and astrology and shares how we can use our knowledge of the stars to help become our best selves. But first, the girls talk about everything about sex they were NOT taught as children, why the best form of self care is cancelling on big plans and their deep love of spray tans. If you can’t tone it, tan it!

Sometimes things aren’t always easy, breezy, beautiful, and we need to grab several tissues and get #AUTHENTIC. In this week’s episode, Jess and June forgo a guest to sit down together and dig into friendship, regret, validation, and learning to apologize.

Let it be known we TRIED to talk about high waisted denim, but there were more important topics to get into, like Jessica’s problem with ‘Weekend At Bernies’ shaming. June declares she will not be swayed by Gen Z to give up her side part, and they both dig into the psychopathy of leaving a voicemail in this day and age. Then, Actress, Model and Entrepreneur, Brooklyn Decker (Grace and Frankie) joins the pod to discuss what else, that money, honey! Brooklyn gets into her fear around money, self worth, asking for what you deserve.

Oooooh, sharing their #authentic selves has June and Jessica feeling like they’re running through the streets naked (but in a good way?) The girls start to share poignant stories about their fathers until they are very RUDELY interrupted. They explore why socializing again makes them feel like aliens and why it can be so hard to ask for help. Then, they are joined by their dear friend, Queen of Cozy, Kulap Vilaysack (writer, actor, activist, film maker and host of Add to Cart podcast) to discuss her breathtaking documentary, Origin Story, about finding her biological father and what constitutes resort wear.

June is back in the U.S. of A. and in the true fashion of this pod, they do not have time for pleasantries! They confront Jessica’s issue with book clubs, facing mortality and why sometimes you can’t “positive” your way out of hard things. They then discuss wild things they have allowed both themselves and their nearest and dearest to do in the throes of grief, which may or may not involve trying to secretly buy a puppy off a stranger in a children’s park. Finally, Danielle Schneider (Bitch Sesh, Black Monday) joins to speak on her complicated journey with fertility and makes a claim that ROCKS the girls to their core.

Jessica St. Clair and June Diane Raphael waste no time getting INTO ALL OF IT on the inaugural episode of “The Deep Dive.” They check in on their precarious mental states and relive memories from their first friend date almost 15 years ago when their first guest, Casey Wilson (Happy Endings, Bitch Sesh podcast) took a risk and asked Jessica what she was “doing with her pubes.” They discuss how to begin the healing process from the trauma of the pandemic (which in a perfect world would involve having sex with numerous strangers and doing a ton of hallucinogenic drugs in a hut in the desert.) Then, Casey Wilson joins to speak on her own healing journey, from psychics to kitchen healers and most recently, a gift certificate she was given to go see a wizard.
